NAN GOLDIN
An Ode to Nan Goldin- this Zine/Chap book was created to depict Nan Goldin's (an 80s punk photographer) life and work. Her work is very raw and emotional, featuring her friends which were mostly gay men, drag queens and drug addicts. Throughout her work you can see many of her friends in vulnerable positions, even a few dying from AIDS during a time when the topic was still taboo. Because her work tells such a huge story I kept this publication relatively minimalistic to have the main focus on her photographs. I chose a contemporary format to also compliment her work.
7 DEADLY SINS
7 Deadly Sins was a series created for my final art show senior year. I wanted to capture a different interpretation of these well known sins. I created kind of a post-apocalyptic world in which monsters and creatures inhabit. The main life purpose of these creators is to survive- in doing this their inner selves surface and in turn are shown here committing sin. Done in ink and digital paint.
BLACKFRIARS THEATRE
This was an illustration done for the Blackfriars theatre in Rochester. It was created for a play in which a group of mentally disabled men live together- throughout the play many different situations arise. I pictured them living in a brown stone surrounded by nothing else but a starry sky and a large calm moon. If you look closely on the lit up level of the building, you can see the men conversing and going about their lives. Created in ink and digital paint.
LUNETTE CAMPAIGN
This campaign was for Lunette menstrual cups. There is still a stigma around female menstruation and ambiguity involving menstrual cups. Being aware of this I wanted the product to appear inviting and appealing, depicting normal women feeling at peace and powerful- hence the slogan "Do you". Some of the materials from the project are shown below, including buttons as merchandise.
EAUX CLAIRE
This moving poster was created for the Eaux Claire musical festival. It was inspired by an existing illustration about a bear and his rabbit friend. I wanted my design to be humorous and appealing to viewers. I chose a bear as the focal point because the festival is set in rural Wisconsin so I thought it would be fitting. The bear is on his long bike journey to the festival to see his favorite artist Chance the Rapper. He comes prepared with a cooler full of beer and snacks.
